Description

An astringent lotion for use on various skin conditions in dogs. Used to treat acute moist dermatitis and to toughen foot pads of dogs.e.g. “hot-spots” (moist dermatitis) and eczemas. Contains salicylic and tannic acids in alcohol base. Salicylic acid has bacteriostatic and fungicidal properties and acts as a keratolytic. Tannic acid is astringent. In combination with alcohol, the two organic acids have a powerful astringent action which precipitates protein, debrides necrotic tissue, cleans and sterilises the affected tissue and allows the granulating process to begin.

Storage: Store in a cool place (below 25°C). Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep cap tightly closed.

Warning: Inflammable. Keep out of reach of children and uninformed persons. Avoid getting into eyes or onto mucous membranes. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

Directions for use

For topical application. Apply directly to skin lesions every six to eight hours as directed by the veterinarian or until the lesion is dry. Continue one application daily until healing is complete. To toughen foot pads: Apply undiluted to foot pads and between toes.

Composition

Salicylic acid 8% m/v, Tannic acid 8% m/v, in an alcoholic base.
